Saying “I love you” is often the only way people know how to express themselves, so it has become the most common and well known way to express love. Although it is the most popular method, this is by no means the only nor effective way. While some people thrive on verbal affirmation of their love, others do not receive this well.
QUALITY TIME
Some people are not good with words, but this does not mean they don’t know how to express love. They are great at just being there for people! A lot of times this can be how someone shows there love. The act of someone spending one on one quality time with someone can often be much more meaningful then hearing them say “I love you”. Taking time out of your schedule and planning to be with the one you love and just appreciate them can often express love so much better than words could ever dream of.

For some they show their love to others by doing things for them, this does not mean necessarily spending money on them. When it comes to expressing love this is called acts of kindness because it is doing a kind act for them when unsolicited. Washing their car, doing the laundry, making them breakfast in bed, helping them with that project they’ve been procrastinating on. Whatever it may be, it comes from a place of love, they see something that you need help with and in wanting to show you they care, they decide to just do it for you. This can often be over looked as an act of love but it can be one of the most powerful expressions as it is so unexpected.

This is not the typical gift giving associated with valentines day or birthdays. Nor is it a showy display of how much money you can spend on something. Giving gifts dates back centuries as one of the greatest ways to show someone how much they mean to you. Buying something meaningful for someone just because, or because it reminded you of them can say so much!
